When will I receive my closing funds?

After closing is complete, your funds are sent via wire transfer by Title and Escrow and typically arrive in your bank account within 1-3 business days.

How the process works

  1. On closing day, the title company records the sale and initiates the disbursement of funds.
  2. Your net proceeds are wired to the bank account you provided to Title and Escrow.
  3. Check your bank account within 1-3 business days. Wire transfers can sometimes take an extra day to post depending on your bank.

What is deducted from your proceeds?

The amount you receive is your net proceeds -- the final number shown in your offer breakdown. The following are deducted before disbursement:

  • Mortgage payoff (if applicable) -- your remaining loan balance is paid directly to your lender.
  • Opendoor service charge -- the fee for using Opendoor's service.
  • Repair costs -- any agreed-upon repair credits.
  • Closing costs -- title fees, transfer taxes, and other standard closing costs.
  • Other agreed-upon amounts -- such as HOA dues, property taxes, or other prorated charges.

The net proceeds figure in your offer breakdown accounts for all of these deductions.

How to make sure everything goes smoothly

  • Confirm your banking information with your Title and Escrow before closing day. Incorrect account or routing numbers will delay your funds.
  • Check your dashboard at opendoor.com for disbursement status after closing. (Flag for confirmation: verify that sellers can see disbursement status on their dashboard.)
  • Contact your bank if the wire has not posted after 2-3 business days. Some banks take longer to process incoming wires.

Tip: Verify your bank account and routing numbers before closing. Correcting banking information after funds have been sent can add significant delays.

What if I have not received my funds?

If it has been more than 3 business days since closing and your funds have not arrived, contact support immediately. We will trace the wire and resolve the issue.

I need my funds urgently

If you are counting on your Opendoor closing funds for a same-day or next-day transaction — such as closing on a new home — let Opendoor know in advance:

  1. Tell your Opendoor advisor about your timing needs as early as possible.
  2. Confirm wire instructions with both your title company and Opendoor's title partner well before closing day.
  3. On closing day, call the Title and Escrow company if the wire has not arrived within the expected window.

Note: Standard wire transfers take 1-3 business days. If your funds are needed sooner, early communication gives the team the best chance to coordinate timing.
