To get started, enter your address at opendoor.com/buy-and-sell and answer a few questions about your current home and your new home search.
2. See your offer and browse homes
After you sign up, we’ll show you a preliminary offer to buy your home. You’ll also see a feed of homes for sale that match your search. You can browse and favorite homes right from the dashboard. Plus you’ll have peace of mind knowing you already have a potential buyer for your current home.
3. Meet your team
Throughout your move, you’ll have access to a team of real estate experts to help you with every step. We’ll introduce you to your Customer Experience Partner (they support you with all your selling steps) and your Buying Agent.
4. Start touring homes
When you find a home you like, book a private tour in person or over a live video call — all at a time that works best for you. You can do this right from the Opendoor app or from your dashboard.
5. Show us your home and get your final offer
Next, we want to see your current home so we can make sure you’re getting our best offer. You can schedule a video call or you can upload photos and videos of your home on your own time. We’ll share your finalized selling offer a few days later.
6. Get pre-approved
Now that you’ve got a final offer for your current home, it’s time to get pre-approved to buy your new home. 7. Accept your offer to sell
Once you accept the offer, you can choose a close date up to 60 days from signing. That will help you get more time to find a new home. If your plans change, you can cancel any time before closing without cost or penalty.
8. Submit buying offers
Think you found the one? Submit an offer to buy the home in your dashboard or right from the Opendoor app. Your Buying Agent will review the offer and advise on what terms could give you the best chances of getting it accepted. We can even help you make an offer as strong as cash to set you apart from the competition.
9. Wrap up closing tasks
Great news! Your offer was accepted. Now it’s time to complete closing tasks like making an earnest deposit and telling us about your utility providers. You can complete most of these steps right from your dashboard.
10. Coordinate closing dates and move
After that, all that’s left is to choose your close dates. We’ll help you line up the dates so you can avoid moving twice or paying for two mortgages at once. You’ll receive your net proceeds in a matter of days, and we’ll provide instructions for how to get access to your new home.
