I can't upload photos through the Key App — troubleshooting

If your self-assessment photos won't upload, the camera isn't working, or the Opendoor Key App is freezing, follow these steps to get things working again.

Step-by-step fixes

  1. Check camera permissions. The Key App needs access to your camera to take photos. Go to your phone's Settings, find Opendoor Key App, and make sure Camera is toggled on.
  2. Check your internet connection. Photos require a Wi-Fi or strong cellular data connection to upload. If your connection is weak, move closer to your router or switch to cellular data.
  3. Update the Key App. Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) and install the latest version. Outdated versions can cause upload failures and freezing.
  4. Force close and reopen the Key App. Swipe the app away from your recent apps, then open it again.
  5. Restart your phone. A full restart clears background processes that may be interfering with the app.
  6. Check your storage space. If your phone is nearly full, photos may not save properly. Free up space by deleting unused apps or old files.

Important things to know

Photos must be taken live through the Key App. You cannot upload existing photos from your camera roll or gallery. The app requires you to capture each photo in real time as part of the self-assessment process.

If your photos appear stuck on "uploading," do not close the app immediately. Wait a few minutes, then try again on a stronger Wi-Fi connection. Repeatedly closing and reopening the app during an upload can cause photos to be lost.

Tip: For the smoothest experience, connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network before starting your photo session. Upload issues are most commonly caused by weak or unstable internet connections.
