How do I request an offer for my seller client?
If your seller client is interested in receiving a cash offer from Opendoor, you can request one directly through the agent portal. The process takes just a few minutes.
How to submit a seller referral
- Go to www.opendoor.com/agents to start the offer process.
- Select "Request Seller Offer" or "Refer a Seller" from the dashboard.
- Enter the property address and details. Include information about the home's condition, recent upgrades, and any known issues.
- Provide your client's contact information (name, email, phone number). Make sure you have your client's permission before submitting their details.
- Review and submit.
Opendoor will generate a preliminary offer based on the property details and local market data. Your client will also be contacted directly by the Opendoor team.
What happens next
Your client will go through Opendoor's standard selling process:
- Assessment — Opendoor evaluates the home, which may include a virtual or in-person assessment. Note: In-person assessments will not be available for all homes, and some will require the Opendoor Key app be used.
- Final offer — After the assessment, Opendoor presents a final cash offer with a breakdown of costs and fees.
- Close — If your client accepts, they choose a closing date that works for them.
You'll receive updates on the agent dashboard throughout the process, so you can stay informed at every step.
Referral fee eligibility
As the referring agent, you may be eligible for a referral fee paid at closing. Make sure your license and brokerage details are up to date in your agent profile so your referral is properly tracked.
Tip: Submit the referral before your client requests an offer on their own. This ensures you're connected to the transaction from the start and eligible for the referral fee.
Helping your client complete the assessment
After you request an offer on behalf of your seller client, the next step is usually the home assessment. Here is how you can help:
- Let your client know what to expect — the assessment is either a self-assessment through the Opendoor Key App (a separate app from the main Opendoor app) or an in-person walkthrough.
- Remind your client to check their email and app for instructions from Opendoor on completing the assessment.

You can also help by making sure your client's home details (bedrooms, bathrooms, condition) are accurate when the offer is requested — this reduces surprises later.
