How does the final walkthrough and digital checkout work?

For agents representing buyers on an Opendoor home, the final walkthrough and checkout process is handled digitally through the Opendoor app or agent portal. This replaces a traditional in-person checkout meeting with the seller.

How the process works

1. Schedule the final walkthrough

Your Opendoor contact will coordinate the timing of the final walkthrough, typically within 1-3 days before closing. You can also request a preferred time through the agent portal.

2. Walk through the property

Visit the property with your buyer and inspect the home's condition. Check that:

  • The home is in the expected condition per the contract
  • All agreed-upon repairs have been completed
  • No new damage has occurred since the last visit
  • All fixtures, appliances, and included items are present

3. Complete the digital checkout

After the walkthrough, open the Opendoor app or agent portal and complete the digital checkout checklist:

  • Confirm the home's condition matches expectations
  • Note any issues (damage, missing items, incomplete repairs)
  • Sign off digitally to confirm the walkthrough is complete

4. Flag any issues

If there are problems — such as damage, missing items, or incomplete repairs — flag them immediately in the app and contact your Opendoor representative. The team will work to resolve the issue before closing.

After digital checkout

Once you complete the digital checkout, closing proceeds as scheduled. No additional in-person meetings with the seller are required. The title company will handle the remaining closing steps.

Tip: Complete the digital checkout as soon as possible after your walkthrough. Delays in completing checkout can push back the closing timeline.

What you'll need

  • The Opendoor app (available on iOS and Android) or access to the agent portal
  • Your agent credentials to log in
  • A record of any agreed-upon repairs or credits from the contract
