Can my buyer client visit Opendoor homes without me?
Yes — your buyer clients can tour Opendoor homes on their own using the Opendoor app. You do not need to be present for self-guided tours, and you will still receive full agent credit when your client submits an offer.
Note: Self-touring is not available on all Opendoor properties. If the property does not show on the Opendoor app as available for self-touring, it will require an agent to schedule and accompany the buyer on a tour.
How client self-tours work
Your client downloads the Opendoor app, selects a home, and schedules a self-guided tour at a time that works for them. Tours are available 7 days a week. They unlock the door through the app and explore the home at their own pace.
You are welcome to join any tour, but it is not required. Many agents find it helpful to let clients narrow down their favorites independently, then attend tours together for the top choices.
Identity verification is required
Before their first tour, your client must complete one-time identity verification through Stripe Identity. This involves uploading a photo ID and taking a selfie. Once verified, they can tour any Opendoor home without repeating the process.
Tip: Encourage your client to complete identity verification before their first tour so they are not delayed at the door.
You still get credit for the deal
As long as you are registered as your client's agent, you will receive credit when they submit an offer on an Opendoor home. Your client touring independently does not affect your commission or your role in the transaction.
How to make sure you are linked as the buyer's agent
There are two ways to ensure you are connected to your client's transaction:
- Register through the Opendoor agent portal — log in and add yourself as the buyer's agent on the property or deal.
- Have your client add you — when your client starts the offer process on opendoor.com or in the app, they can enter your information as their representing agent.
Do this before your client submits an offer to avoid any delays in agent attribution.
