Can I update my home details after requesting an offer?

Contact Opendoor support at 888-352-7075 or support@opendoor.com to update any home details that were entered incorrectly or have changed since you requested your offer. The team can make corrections on your behalf.

When you might need to update

There are several situations where updating your home details makes sense:

  • You entered something incorrectly -- for example, the wrong number of bedrooms, bathrooms, or square footage.
  • You described the condition inaccurately -- maybe you underestimated or overestimated the state of your home when you filled out the initial questionnaire.
  • You have made improvements since requesting your offer -- such as new flooring, a renovated kitchen, a replaced roof, or updated landscaping.
  • Something about the property changed -- for instance, you completed a repair or finished a renovation that was in progress when you first submitted your details.

How to update your details

Currently, home details cannot be edited directly in the app or on the website. Instead:

  1. Contact support.
  2. Let the team know what needs to be corrected -- be specific about which details are wrong and what the accurate information is.
  3. Provide supporting documentation if you have it -- photos of completed upgrades, contractor receipts, or updated measurements can help speed things along.

The support team will update your file and let you know what happens next.

How the update affects your offer

What happens after the correction depends on where you are in the process:

  • Before your assessment: Your preliminary offer may be recalculated based on the corrected details. This can cause it to go up or down.
  • After your assessment but before your final offer: The updated information will be factored into the final offer your team is preparing.
  • After your final offer: The team will review whether the new information warrants a re-evaluation. This is handled on a case-by-case basis.

Tip: It is best to update your details before your assessment so everything is accurate from the start. This helps avoid surprises when your cash offer (also called your final offer) arrives.

I made improvements — will that increase my offer?

If you have completed upgrades or renovations since requesting your offer, those improvements may result in a higher offer — but it depends on the type and scope of the work.

Improvements that commonly affect your offer:

  • Major system replacements — new roof, HVAC, water heater, or electrical panel.
  • Kitchen or bathroom renovations — updated countertops, cabinets, fixtures, or appliances.
  • New flooring throughout the home.
  • Significant exterior work — new siding, fresh landscaping, repaved driveway.

Improvements that may have less impact:

  • Cosmetic changes like fresh paint or minor fixture swaps — these help, but may not significantly change the offer.
  • Partial upgrades in one room when the rest of the home still needs work.

To let Opendoor know about your improvements:

  1. Contact support.
  2. Describe the work you completed — be specific about what was done, when it was finished, and the scope.
  3. Share documentation if you have it — photos of the finished work, contractor invoices, or receipts.

Your Opendoor team will review the information and determine whether a re-evaluation is warranted.
